More effort to complete the task of natural disaster response, search and rescue (21:41 19/09/2017)
The Municipal People’s Committee received document of the Government’s Office, indicating instruction of Vice Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung at the meeting on reviewing performance of the National Steering Committee for Search and Rescue from 2016 and implementing tasks in the next months of 2017. Accordingly, from now to the end of 2017, there will be challenges for natural disaster response, search and rescue due to complicated changes of weather and climate; therefore, ministries, sectors and localities are requested to perform following tasks:
- Proactively take preventive, responsive measures in order to reduce loss of lives and properties, and proactively conduct search and rescue; request governments at all levels and people to take precaution, closely follow up the situation of incidents and natural disasters in the area; when incidents or natural disasters occur, authorities must closely cooperate with each other, timely report and suggest effective measures to respond to the situation;
- Increase information work and popularization among people to raise their awareness of natural disaster response, search and rescue; highlight responsibility of agencies and sectors in incident and natural disaster response, search and rescue, especially the role of leaders; further review, amend and supplement plans to respond to incidents and natural disasters in each area, in particular areas at high risk of incidents and natural disaster, plans to respond to hurricanes and especially heavy rain and flood, landslide, earthquake, tsunami in accordance with actual condition of each area; prepare manpower and equipments to handle the situation, especially before and after the natural disasters and incidents.
In response to the document, Municipal People’s Committee assigns Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in cooperation with relevant agencies and units to act as advisor, and submit report by September 30.
