Under the report, Hanoi has invested in 119 water purifiers in rural areas, in which 84 are providing safe water for 88,000 households or 400,000 people living in the areas.
Meanwhile, the network of urban water provision for rural areas under the form of support from social sources are five projects, which have been completed. This takes the total capacity of water provision from water plants in Hanoi to 1.52 million cubic meters per day, representing an increase of 623,000 cubic meters against that of in 2016.
As of present, the network has been able to cover 78% of rural areas, in which districts such as Thach That, Quoc Oai, Hoai Duc and Gia Lam have installed stable network of water purifiers to the whole areas.
The city is currently calling for investors to continue carrying out clean water projects in rural areas. The municipal People’s Committee has approved 23 investors to implement 40 safe water projects in the city.
It is expected that after the completion of these projects, the total water provision capacity would reach 2.35 million cubic meters per day, ensuring sufficient tap water supply for 96% of the city’s population.
Current statistics revealed 100% of the population in rural areas in Hanoi have access to safe water, 85.1% of which have been supplied with safe water under the standards of the Ministry of Health.
