The document noted the municipal People's Committee has received instruction from the National Steering Committee on Traffic Safety regarding the road safety situationin the first nine months of 2020 and solutions for the fourth quarter. The instruction requested all major provinces/cities to enhance supervision and monitoring the driving licenses issuance; ensure the safety standards of vehicles; enhance efficiency in maintaining the quality of transport infrastructure and utilize funds from the Road Maintaining fund to address accident blackspots.
The municipal People’s Committee requested local authorities at districts/wards to raise the public’s awareness on complying with traffic regulation and issue strict punishment for those violating the laws.
Traffic polices at provinces/cities are tasked with supervising and dealing with cases of violating traffic laws under the instruction of the Ministry of Public Security.
People’s Committees of Hanoi and HO Chi Minh City, as well as others, are responsible for carrying out five groups of solutions to address traffic congestion to ensure traffic safety and minimize traffic accidents.
Hanoi People’s Committee assigned the Department of Transportation and police to cooperate with related agencies in ensuring public order and traffic safety, targeting to reduce traffic accidents in 2020 in three criteria including the number of accidents, the number of fatalities and cases of injuries.
