The municipal People’s Committee received the PM’s Directive No. 35/CT- TTg on urgent measures to respond to natural disasters.
Under the directive, the PM requested localities to closely monitor the developments of natural disaster, and promptly direct the implementation of natural disaster prevention and control task according to the “four on-spot” principle.
Local authorities are required to review and update scenarios in response to dangerous natural disasters, such as rains, large-scale floods, storms, flash floods and landslides.
PM Phuc urge the localities to check dangerous areas, ensure safety for the dikes and dams, immediately deal with problems, and carry out the task of natural disaster prevention, control, search and rescue.
Due attention should be paid to ensuring safe operation of reservoirs; installing monitoring systems and providing data for functional units as prescribed; and improving the capacity of commune-level natural disaster prevention and control task forces in line with the principle "four on spot”.
Phuc also asked the media outlets to strengthen communication work on disaster situation, helping people take initiative in preventing and control natural disasters.
Regarding the matter, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hong Son assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, which serves as a standing agency of the city’s Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, to work with relevant departments, sectors and People’s Committees at district level to implement the tasks.
