According to the report, as of June 2020, Hanoi has over 1.8 million students, including 12,888 disadvantaged children, 44,316 facing risks of falling into a hardship situation, and 677 being injured.
As of June 2020, 12,823 out of 12,888 children are being cared under various programs, or 99.5% of the total. Regarding cases of child abuse in Hanoi, the municipal People’s Committee has defined clear responsibilities for local authorities to prevent child abuse.
In 2012, 495 out of 577 communes and districts are considered friendly for children or 85.78%, the figure has steadily risen to 496 out of 577 in 2013, 522 out of 584 in 2014, 535 out of 584 in 2015, 540 out of 584 in 2016, 543 out of 584 in 2017, 545 out of 584 in 2018, and 520 out of 584 in 2019.
Over the last nine years, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs have organized 252 training classes for 9,260 children regarding the Law on Children, as well as helping them to prevent possible abuse.
Review of the national action program for children in the 2012 - 2020 period revealed the program has been strictly carried out under the supervision of Hanoi’s People Council.
