Hanoi launches National Energy Efficiency Program (08:09 27/08/2020)


HNP - Hanoi People’s Committee issued decision No.3700/QD-UBND on August 21 on an action plan to carry out the National Energy Efficiency Program in the 2021 - 2025 period in Hanoi. 


It is expected that by 2025, Hanoi would reach a ratio of energy saving from 5 - 7% of total energy consumption and the loss of energy at below 4% in the city;  100% of transportation firms would train drivers to use energy efficiently; 100% of enterprises in industrial parks and 80% industrial facilities in rural areas would get access to solutions for energy efficiency. 
 
Hanoi also targets 330 construction works in the city qualified for green energy standard and at least 2 - 3 construction works qualified for the standard every year. 
 
The move is expected to reduce the amount of energy consumption in industrial sectors during the 2016 - 2020 period, including at least 5% for textile industry; 3 - 6.88%  in spirits, beer and alcohol beverage production; 8 - 15.8% for paper industry; 7% for chemical industry 18 - 22.46% for plastic production, among others. 
 
Under the program, the Department of Industry and Trade is tasked with cooperating with related agencies in implementing the program in Hanoi, while continuing to finalize legal framework for energy efficiency in production; establishing a database on Vietnam energy, as well as IT database on energy efficiency; training human resources in energy management, among others.
