Under the Document, the Department of Transportation is tasked with cooperating with related agencies and transportation firms in ensuring traffic order and transport service quality.
Moreover, local authorities would step up efforts in punishing drivers violating traffic regulations.
The Department and police forces would continue to promote the Law on prevention and control of harmful effects of alcohol beverages and the Decree No.100 on administrative penalties for road traffic offences and rail transport offenses.
Related agencies are responsible for ensuring traffic safety in major roads and prevent congestion during rush hours, while putting measures in place to prevent traffic accidents at junctions between roads and railways, ferries, inland ports, among others.
The Department and people’s committees of districts and wards are expected to carry out maintenance works for roads, bridges, traffic lights and signs, preventing traffic accidents due to the low quality of transportation infrastructures.
