Hanoi promotes consumption of made-in Vietnam products abroad (15:30 23/05/2020)


HNP - Hanoi People’s Committee issued Plan No.103/KH-UBND on May 20, implementing the project “Mobilizing overseas Vietnamese to introduce made-in Vietnam products and expand distribution networks for Vietnamese products abroad in the 2020 - 2024 period.”  


Following the plan, Hanoi People’s Committee would continue to promote the significance, objectives and activities of the campaign “Vietnamese people buy Vietnamese goods” to overseas Vietnamese, particularly through working trips abroad of city’s leaders or at political events, exhibition, trade fairs, among others; raising awareness among overseas Vietnamese regarding the quality of Vietnamese products, business and production capacities of Vietnamese firms to meet export demand. 
 
Additionally, the plan aims to promote awareness of enterprises in protecting customers rights, quality demand intellectual property rights, quality control, food safety, dispute settlement and understandings of the target markets. 
 
Hanoi People’s Committee requested to check the quality of Vietnamese products to ensure its compatibility with requirements of target markets; building a database of Vietnamese products qualified for export. 
 
Hanoi expects to promote trade and cooperation between Vietnamese and foreign enterprises; hold trade promotion activities with the participation of Vietnamese enterprises in Vietnam and those abroad, focusing on major markets such as the US, Russia, Eastern European countries, and in ASEAN. 
 
Under the program, a number of activities has been outlined including cooperating with the Vietnamese community abroad and local authorities in promoting Vietnamese goods at trade fairs, exhibitions, forums and conferences, focusing on markets such as Czech, Japan, Russia, Australia, Cambodia, Laos, countries in Middle East and Africa, among others, and major export products of Hanoi such as apparel products, footwear, handicrafts, agricultural products, one commune one product (OCOP) products, awarded-winning products, consumer favorite products. 
 
In parallel with the active role of associations, experts and the Vietnamese communities living abroad, Hanoi People’s Committee would provide incentives and policies in trade promotion programs, or policies for enterprises and overseas Vietnamese.
 
The city also set up guidelines to commend organizations and individuals with outstanding contribution in taking Vietnamese products abroad.
