Following the announcement, drastic measures from the central government and of Hanoi have mitigated negative impacts of the African swine fever and resulted in higher production capacity of poultry and seafood in the city compared to the same period last year.
However, the growing impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic is causing a recession for both global and domestic economies, in turn affecting lives of the people, social security, state budget, jobs and socio-economic development of Hanoi.
Despite the difficulties, Hanoi set growth target of 4.04% year-on-year for the sector, which would serve as foundation for economic recovery and social stability, especially in case the pandemic persists for a longer period.
Additionally, the city would continue to address existing shortcomings and issues during the current period.
Suu requested the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to propose plans supporting the development of the agricultural sector in Hanoi in 2020 amid the pandemic; cooperating with the municipal Department of Finance, and the Department of Planning and Investment to ensure the realization of the target growth for the sector.
