Under the document, the municipal People’s Committee requested greater efforts to tackle corruption, including petty corruption during market surveillance activities, which could lead to frustration among the public and low confidence on the market authority.
The Committee requested local authorities to take responsibilities if there is growing number of cases in selling fake and smuggled products in the locality, or public servants committing corruption.
Relevant departments and units are tasked with raising people’s awareness on the consequence of selling fake products violating intellectual property rights; encouraging business households to sign commitment on not selling fake, smuggled and low quality products; cooperating with press agencies, organizations and the people in collecting information regarding cases of selling fake, smuggled and low quality products.
The local authorities should enhance cooperation with customs authorities in tracking origins of imported goods, while applying strict penalties to those smuggling products into Vietnam; expanding international cooperation in combating trade frauds, smuggling, fake goods, among others.
Hanoi People’s Committee requested the Market Authority of Hanoi, relevant departments and units to strictly follow the instruction of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and report back to the Committee.
