Hanoi: Schools to remain closed until Feb 23 due to coronavirus emergency (17:07 17/02/2020)


HNP - The Hanoi People’s Committee released Official Letter No. 494/UBND-KGVX on extending school closure until February 23 in an effort to prevent acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). 


Accordingly, the Municipal People’s Committee received Inter-departmental Proposal No. 463/TTrLN/SGDDT-YT-SLDTBXH of Departments of Education and Training, Health, and Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on extending school closures amid an ongoing public health emergency caused by the novel coronavirus (nCoV).
 
The Municipal People’s Committee decided to give students in the capital city another week off by extending their school break through February 23, 2020. 
 
The Hanoi People’s Committee assigned Departments of Education and Training, and Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to take prime responsibility and coordinate with district/township People’s Committee and relevant agencies to roll out the tasks as regulated. 
 
Meanwhile, Departments of Health, Education and Training, Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and district/township People’s Committees are requested to disinfect schools on Saturday and Sunday (February 22-23) to ensure safe environment when the classes resume.
