Accordingly, over the past one year, Hanoi has taken drastic actions on gender equality so as to create optimal conditions for the advancement and development of women; paid special attention to job creation, improving female workers’ living standards; and organized many job fairs, job transaction sessions, recruitment days for female workers, among others.
Moreover, the city has carried out a wide range of policies to help poor households escape poverty and improve their living standards; given assistance to women-owned businesses and created the best conditions for them to expand their business activities, and provided jobs to laborers, especially female workers.
In 2018, Hanoi provided new jobs to about 190,000 people, including more than 92,500 women, accounting for 48.7%. Over 12,700 rural female workers participated in vocational training courses according to Decision No. 1956/QD-TTg.
Meanwhile, People’s Councils and People’s Committees at all levels have encouraged women to give their opinions to 29 draft legal documents and draft resolutions of the Municipal People’s Council on women’s and children’s affairs.
During the 2018-2019 period, the Hanoi Women's Union has jointly monitored the implementation of Decree No. 39/2015/ND-CP dated April 27, 2015 of the Government on “Supporting poor women residing in remote areas of difficult access and ethnic minority women who give births in accordance with the population policy” in nine poor communes.
Annually, all-level Party organizations and authorities have created optimal conditions for Fatherland Front Committees, political and social organizations to supervise the execution of policies and laws on women; and joined interdisciplinary inspection teams to examine the implementation of policies for female workers in businesses so as to detect and protect their legitimate rights.
Also, the city has supported the comprehensive development of women as well as advanced, happy and civilized families while raising the responsibility of heads of Party organizations and authority on the women’s work.
In the time to come, Hanoi will continue taking many solutions to implement the directive. Particularly, all-level Party organizations, authorities, Fatherland Front Committees, social and political organizations will carry out communication campaigns on the Central level’s directives and resolutions, and the city’s action programs so as to raise the awareness of cadres, Party members and people on women’s role and position in the period of strengthening industrialization and modernization.
