Accordingly, the Municipal People’s Committee asked departments, sectors and district/township People’s Committees to continue carrying out plans on preventing tobacco harm among organizations and subordinate units; consolidate Steering Committees for Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harm to effectively enforce Tobacco Control Law.
Departments, sectors and press agencies will strengthen the communication on provisions of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harm with the focus on major contents, as follow: Places where smoking is prohibited (Articles 11 and 12); Responsibilities of heads of agencies, organizations and localities (Article 6); heads of banned smoking areas (Article 14); Citizens' rights in prevention and control of tobacco harm (Article 7); Obligations of smokers (Article 13); Prohibited acts in the Law on Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control (Article 9); Regulations on banning tobacco sales in places where smoking is prohibited (Article 25); Smoking harms on public health; significance of smoke-free environment; among others.
Departments, sectors, district/township People’s Committees will also establish cross-functional teams to inspect the law execution and strictly handle infractions according to Decree No. 176/2013/ND-CP dated November 14, 2013 of the Government on punishment for violations in the health sector.
Besides, the city’s entities will join the work to organize a wide range of activities in response to World No Tobacco Day (May 31) and National No Tobacco Week (from May 25 to 31, 2019).
