Previously, on April 10, 2019, the Municipal People’s Committee received urgent Public Telegraph No. 1237/CD-BNN-TY dated February 22, 2019 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on strengthening the control of trade, slaughtering and transport of pig and pork products to prevent African swine fever from further spreading.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development asked provinces and cities which have reported infections of African swine fever to tighten the control of trade, slaughtering and transport of pig and pork products out of the localities, and ban the transport of pig and pork products through infected areas.
Among the tasks stated in the telegraph include taking test samples at transit locations of collection, slaughtering and trade of pigs and pork products, breeding farms and households; and establishing more temporary quarantine points to tightly control the transport of pigs, pork products in the localities.
Regarding this matter, the Office of the Municipal People’s Committee stated the direction of Permanent Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development should take prime responsibility and work together with departments, sectors and relevant units to urgently fulfill the tasks; and give a report to the Municipal People’s Committee as stipulated by law.
