According to a report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, as of March 29, 2019, African swine fever had been found in 32 communes, wards and 58 villages, residential areas in 12 districts, including Long Bien, Gia Lam, Quoc Oai, Dong Anh, Soc Son, Hoang Mai, Phu Xuyen, Thuong Tin, Chuong My, Thach That, Thanh Tri and Hoai Duc. The total number of culled pigs was more than 2,210.
From March 26 to 29, the disease was discovered in two districts of Thanh Tri and Hoai Duc. A total of 469 sick pigs were culled.
In Soc Son District alone, 79 breeding households in 12 communes and towns reported infections of African swine fever with 866 pigs culled.
To put the disease under control, the Municipal People’s Committee requested district/township People’s Committees, departments, sectors and relevant units, basing on functions and tasks, to urgently and strictly work out measures to prevent the epidemic from further spreading in the city as instructed by the Central level and the city.
District/township People’s Committees, departments, sectors and relevant units are asked to focus on removing shortcomings and weaknesses, tightening the cooperation with agencies and units while strengthening the communication on the disease among breeding households, small breeding farms to raise their awareness and responsibility for epidemic prevention and control.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is in charge of urging and monitoring the disease prevention and control work in localities; and reporting information on the disease situation to the Municipal People’s Committee as regulated.
