City to proactively combat smuggling, transport and trade of pigs and pork products without clear origin (16:32 23/11/2018)
Accordingly, the Municipal People’s Committee received a document of the Government Office on direction by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh on strengthening measures to prevent smuggling, transport and trade of pigs and pork products with unknown origin. In which the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister stressed the need to popularize and effectively take various measures to prevent African swine fever from entering Viet Nam; and ban all forms of transporting, trading and slaughtering of pigs and pork products without clear origin.
It is necessary to enhance inspection and control in gateways, trails, border crossings, wholesale markets, and slaughterhouses to timely detect and strictly handle smuggling, transport and trade of pigs and pork products without clear origin.
More effort must be made to monitor the situation of the African swine fever, transport, trade and consumption of pigs or pig products in border areas so as to proactively take measures to prevent the disease from entering the country; increase the responsibility of heads of agencies, organizations and localities; strictly handle irresponsible organizations and individuals, etc.
Regarding the above matter, the Municipal People’s Committee assigned the Departments of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Health, Information and Communication, Market Management, and Police, basing on their functions, missions, to carry out the direction at the mentioned document; give a report on results to the Standing Agency of the Municipal Steering Committee 389 for its report to the National Steering Committee 389 and the Municipal People’s Committee as regulated.
