By the end of 2017, total capacity of water supply resources increases from 897,000 cubic meters per day night to about 950,000 cubic meters per day night. Clean water is provided to approximately 100% of people in urban area; loss of clean water is reduced to 20.5%, a decrease of around 1% in comparison to 2016.
By June of 2018, 11 clean water supply plants are completed and put into use, providing water to the people.
After implementing Plan No. 133/KH-UBNND for a year, the Municipal People’s Committee approves of 34 water supply projects of 23 investors, which will provide water to around 614,347 households in 267 communes (approximately 2,483,389 people). Once completed, the projects will increase clean water supply rate in rural area to 94%.
In order to perform key tasks in clean water system development in Ha Noi to 2020, the Municipal People’s Committee issued Plan No. 131/KH-UBND dated June 11, 2018. Accordingly, the Department of Construction shall conduct inspection, urge investors to speed up progress of building water supply plants, transmission and distribution network according to the schedule approved by Municipal People’s Committee under decision on giving approval in principle for the projects; check and urge water supply companies to set up additional devices, upgrade current water supply plants, guarantee quality of water according to drinking water standard of the Ministry of Health; cooperate with the People’s Committees of districts and towns to inspect the communes where clean water or project on building water supply system is not available, and call on capable, experienced investors; take responsibility, and cooperate with related departments, agencies and units to take measures to reduce the loss of clean water.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment shall cooperate with related agencies and sectors to assess pollution of surface water and underground water; increase inspection of illegal exploitation of water resources, and handle violations according to regulation; cooperate with People’s Committees of districts and towns to handle proposal on land and water resources of the investors of water supply plants.
The Department of Health shall collaborate with the Department of Construction, the Department of Agricultural and Rural Development, related units and investors of water supply projects to conduct inspection, collect samples for analyzing water quality after periodical treatment, and guarantee that quality of treated water will meet drinking water standard of the Ministry of Health.
People’s Committees of districts and towns shall give instruction, timely solve problems in site clearance and water supply projects in Ha Noi, and report to the Municipal People’s Committee if the issues go beyond their authority; conduct inspection regularly to check progress of water supply projects in the area, and suggest replacement of investors who fail to implement the projects on schedule and maintain quality; coordinate with related agencies and departments to increase popularization, so that people understand the benefit of clean water; guide people how to use water efficiently with the right purpose.
