Accordingly, carrying out the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung on responding to natural disasters, accidents, and search and rescue in 2017 and deploy tasks in the remaining months of 2018; the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on urgently taking measures to ensure safety for dike systems, the Municipal People’s Committee requested the city’s departments, sectors and agencies, People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts and towns to grasp the above-mentioned directions; review and evaluate losses due to floods; and urgently overcome disaster consequences as directed at Telegraph No. 02/CD-UBND dated July 23rd, 2018 of the Municipal People’s Committee.
People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts and towns are tasked to take measures to handle dike incidents; enhance inspection of dyke in localities as regulated so as to timely detect and deal with incidents in response to upcoming rains, floods and storms.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development – working as a standing agency of the Municipal Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue- is in charge of taking prime responsibility and cooperating with member units, People’s Committees of districts, suburban districts, town, and relevant departments, sectors and agencies to review, supplement plans on natural disaster prevention and control; preparing enough equipments, vehicles and mobilizing human resources to cope with disasters as required; giving report to the Municipal People’s Committee.
