According to the decision, Ha Noi encourages the use of vending machines in order to gradually modernize retail methods, step-by-step replace street vendors and roadside vendors, create a system of vending machines in proper places in the city, contribute to offering more convenient shopping options to the people, and provide goods with products of clear origin and high quality directly to the consumers.
To 2020, Ha Noi expects to put around 1,000 vending machines into operation. They will be set up at proper public places in the city. Vending machines will be installed at parks, flower gardens and places of similar features; hospitals, schools, bus stations, waiting lodges, historical sites, cultural sites and tourist attractions, as well as other public places of similar features. Each machine will cover an area of 2 – 3 square meters. Up to four adjacent vending machines might be set up at a place according to actual demand. There is a gap of about 500 – 1000 meters between two places.
The vending machines must be selected according to climate condition of Viet Nam, suitable for installing outdoor, and energy efficientefficience. The use of solar power is encouraged. Vending machines must have residual-current devices and surveillance cameras. They must be friendly to users, especially old people, children and disabled people with disability; information of product names, prices, guidelines and hotline must be shown clearly on the machines.
