One of the key changes in this new plan is that students are now permitted to register three options for three public high schools ahead of the exam.
Under the plan, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2021-22 academic year is set to take place on May 29-30, 2021, while the municipal Department of Training and Education would hold a single exam for all students looking to enter public high schools with four subjects of mathematics, literature, foreign language and an optional subject.
The fourth subject would be randomly selected from physics, chemistry, biology, history, civic education, and geography, for which the Department of Training and Education is scheduled to announce the fourth subject in March 2021.
Regarding foreign language, students can choose among English, French, German, Japanese and South Korean, or aforeign language different from the one being taught at the middle-school.
The examination for mathematics and literature are in the form of constructed-response questions for a duration of 120 minutes per subject. Tests for foreign language and the fourth subject would be taken under multiple-choice questions for 60 minutes each.
All students are permitted to register three options for three public high schools, in which the first and second ones should be those in area that students are permanently living in, and the third in other areas.
