Hanoi extends social distancing until September 6 (22:08 23/08/2021)

HNP - Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh signed Dispatch No. 19/CD-UBND on August 21 on strengthening measures for strictly enforcement of social distancing order to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

Accordingly, Hanoi has gone nearly a month under a citywide social distancing order starting July 24 to curb the pandemic and which has achieved the initial success. 
However, the on-going coronavirus situation is still complicated as the city continues to record new COVID-19 infected cases with complicated clusters and  cases  in the community in which source of infection has not been identified. 
In an effort to stamp out the pandemic, the municipal authorities decided to extend social distancing measures until 6am on September 6.
Under the dispatch, local residents, agencies, organizations and businesses are required to continue strictly implementing the social distancing measures following the Hanoi mayor’s Directive 17.
The agencies and offices of Hanoi and the central Government based in Hanoi, companies, enterprises and corporations must follow the city’s social distancing order, while tightening the issuance of travel permits for officials and civil servants.
Based on the developments of the disease in the area, Chairpersons of district-level People’s Committees could adopt stronger measures to timely prevent the virus from spreading.
The city leader underlined the necessity to ensure the sufficient supply of essential goods and health services for people.
He urged the local authorities to mobilize the participation of the entire political system at all levels as well as people and businesses in the fight against COVID-19.
The competent authorities should tighten the COVID-19 prevention and control work at wholesale markets, shopping centers, supermarkets and convenience stores.
Chairman Chu Ngoc Anh requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF)’s Hanoi committee to strengthen communication to raise public awareness on complying with the social distancing rules, and encourage sectors, socio-political organizations, the business community and people to join hands with the municipal authorities in social welfare work.
The VFF’s municipal committee needs to set up a hotline to receive and handle public  queries , while supervising the implementation of support and social welfare policies for laborers, especially those affected by the pandemic, he stressed.
Anh assigned the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to cooperate with district-level People’s Committees to carry out social welfare policies in accordance with Resolution No. 68/NQ-CP of the Government, Decision No. 23/2021/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, Decision No. 3642/QD-UBND of the municipal People’s Committee to to promptly help people facing difficulties due to the pandemic.
He ordered the Department of Information and Communications to strictly punish those spreading fake news on the city’s COVID-19 effort, and effectively operate the call center 1022 to receive denunciations  and deal with petitions on COVID-19 fight. 
The Department of Health must make preparations for possible pandemic scenarios, raises the capacity of COVID-19 testing, stands ready for large-scale vaccination, as well as ensures facilities for treatment of COVID-19 patients, he noted.
He also requested the municipal police to enhance inspection on the people’s observance of social distancing measures, and impose hash punishment on those breaking COVID-19 prevention and control regulations.
The Department of Education and Training is ordered to organize a virtual opening ceremony for the 2021-2022 new academic year, and implement the teaching work in line with regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
