Accordingly, Vice Chairman Chu Xuan Dung asked departments, sectors and district-level People’s Committees to continue closely following instructions of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health, the Party Committee and the People’s Committee of Hanoi on COVID-19 response.
He asked local authorities to prepare different scenarios on the assumption of a large-scale COVID-19 outbreak, while taking urgent actions to investigate, trace and test those in close contact with new COVID-19 infections.
Localities should be updated on the pandemic situation in provinces of Hai Duong and Quang Ninh so as to trace returnees from COVID-19 affected zones for testing and quarantining, Dung noted, urging them to inspect the compliance with regulations on entry, medical isolation, and pandemic prevention and control.
He underscored the importance to instruct people to strictly follow the health ministry’s 5K (in Vietnamese) message: Khau trang (face mask) - Khu khuan (disinfection) - Khoang cach (distance) - Khong tu tap (no gathering) - Khai bao y te (health declaration).
Under the document, the Hanoi People’s Committee ordered all bars, karaoke parlors, and night clubs to close from February 1, 2021 in an effort to curb local transmissions until further notice.
“All restaurants and catering services are required to put anti-COVID-19 measures in place, including wearing face masks, washing hand with sanitizers, and keeping safe distance”, the city official emphasized.
He assigned the health sector to conduct massive testing for people returning from Hai Duong’s Chi Linh City from January 1, and Van Don airport from January 5.
Dung also requested strict punishment for violations of COVID-19 prevention rules.
