Ceremony to be held to commemorate COVID-19 victims (12:07 19/11/2021)


HNP - The Hanoi People's Committee on November 16 issued Plan No. 257/KH-UBND on the organization of a ceremony to commemorate people who lost their lives to COVID-19.


The event will be co-hosted by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the authority of the Ho Chi Minh City.
 
The ceremony will be held simultaneously at 8am on November 19 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and   broadcast live on the VTV1 channel.
 
In Hanoi, the ceremony will take place a  in Thong Nhat Park, Tran Nhan Tong street, Hai Ba Trung district. It is expected to draw the participation of leaders of the Party and State, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, ministries, ministerial-level sectors and the capital city of Hanoi. 
 
Representatives of religious organizations, frontline forces participating in epidemic prevention and control, and representatives of relatives  cadres and soldiers who died of COVID-19 will be also in attendance. 
 
A candle light vigil will be held at 8:30pm on November 19 to pay tribute to victims in the pandemic. 
 
The city encouraged local residents to turn off lights and lit candle in memory of the deceased at the same moment.
 
The municipal People's Committee also requested the organizers to strictly comply with COVID-19 prevention and control regulations. 
 
Vietnam has lost 22,765 people to the pandemic, or 2.4% of the infections.
