Strengthening labor safety and hygiene in the period of industrialization, modernization and international integration (11:50 31/07/2019)
As of December 31, 2018, Hanoi had 25,281 businesses, 1,350 craft villages, 9 industrial parks and export processing zones and 111 industrial clusters. There were huge construction works, shopping malls, wholesale markets and high building in the city.
About 3.8 million laborers were working in fields of industry, agriculture, construction, processing, financial and banking services, tourism and trade, among others.
Annual reports on occupational accidents showed that over the past five years, the city have recorded nearly 1,100 work-related accidents killing and injuring more than 1,100 people. Hanoi is one of the localities with the highest number of workplace accidents in the country.
To strengthen prevention of occupational diseases and accidents as well as to ensure labor hygiene and working conditions for workers, Hanoi has boost the communication on main streets, in industrial parks and export processing zones via a wide range of activities, hanging banners, providing legal documents, organizing contests and workshops on labor safety and hygiene, among others.
Basing on the outcomes as well as difficulties, problems and causes, experiences over the past time, Hanoi sets up missions and solutions for the following periods, including: tightening the state management of labor safety and hygiene; fully rolling out guiding documents of the Central levels; strengthening the communication and dissemination of Law on Labor Safety and Hygiene in the city; enhancing inspection and handling violation cases; opening training courses for civil servants in charge of labor safety and hygiene to improve their professional knowledge and skills, among others.
