HNP - The Hanoi People’s Committee promulgated Official Letter No. 2149/UBND-KGVX on July 8 on maintaining preventive measures amidst new developments of the pandemic.

According to the document, Hanoi faces high risk of COVID-19 spreading in the community as the coronavirus pandemic has turned complicated in Ho Chi Minh City and northern provinces.
In realizing the municipal authorities’ instructions on fighting the pandemic in the city, the municipal People’s Committee asked heads of departments, sectors and chairpersons of district-level People’s Committee to regularly update themselves on the COVID-19 situation in cities and provinces nationwide, work out scenarios for pandemic development response, and strictly follow the Hanoi mayor’s Dispatch No. 13/CD-UBND dated July 7.
The municipal authorities called on people to go out only when necessary, follow the health ministry’s 5K message, and rigorously observe preventive rules set by the Government and city.
Based on the situation of the pandemic in the city, the municipal People’s Committee decided to suspend outdoor physical exercise and sports activities from 6pm on July 8 until further notice due to the complex evolutions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The competent authorities and relevant forces are assigned to set up fixed and mobile COVID-19 checkpoints at industrial parks, industrial clusters, apartment buildings, healthcare facilities, schools, markets, malls, parks and other public places, while imposing tough punishment on those violating pandemic prevention and control regulations.
Functional units are required to work around the clock and be ready to take measures for pandemic development response.
The municipal authorities asked the Department of Information and Communications and the media outlet to strengthen communication on the COVID-19 situation and preventive measures among citizens.
Airports, railway stations and the Transport Department have asked passengers who arrive in Hanoi from other localities to strictly follow the health ministry’s pandemic prevention guidelines, submit online health declarations and monitor their health.
In case arrivals experience symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, breathing difficulty or loss of their sense of taste, they must immediately notify the nearest local authority or medical facility for guidance.
Authorities at all levels should consider the fight against the pandemic as an important, urgent and top priority task in the time ahead, and stay proactive in any situation, the municipal authorities requested  the entire political system and people to join effort in  containing the pandemic.
During the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic that began in late April, Hanoi has reported 484 community infections with 16 seen in the last three days.
