Hanoi strives to realize action plans set for the 17th municipal Party Committee (22:39 02/04/2021)
Under the plan, Hanoi targets to become a smart, modern and highly competitive city in the country and the region by 2025.
The city will complete the industrialization process and reach the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita of US$8,300 - 8,500.
For the period of 2021-2025, Hanoi strives to achieve GRDP growth target of 7.5-8%, in which the services sector would make up 65 - 65.5%, industry and services 22.5 - 23% and agro-forestry-fishery 1.4 - 1.6%.
Hanoi aims to raise the digital economy's contribution to GRDP to 30% by 2025. The city’s labor productivity growth rate will be 7-7.5%.
In socio-cultural development, 75% of residential quarters, 65% of villages and 86-88% of households will be recognized as cultural status. Around 85% of public schools will meet national standards. The number of patient beds per ten thousand inhabitants will stand at 30-35. There will be 15 doctors per ten thousand inhabitants. All communes and wards will meet national health criteria. About 55-60% of laborers will be trained. The unemployment rate in urban areas will be under 13%.
In terms of planning and environment, Hanoi aims to have all communes meeting new-style rural area standards, with 40% of them being recognized as advanced new-style rural areas. Additionally, 100% of households in urban and suburban areas will have access to safe water by 2025.
In order to fulfill the above-mentioned targets, the municipal People’s Committee will roll out major solutions and tasks for the period of 2021-2025.
Accordingly, Hanoi will continue developing its economy quickly and sustainably, strengthening the planning work to build a smart and green city, and completing the building of new style rural areas.
In addition to promoting the image of Hanoians, the capital city will pay special attention to improving the quality of teaching and learning, developing qualified human resources, and enhancing science, technology and innovation.
At the same time, more effort will be made to ensure social welfare; improve local residents’ living standards; and tighten the management and use of natural resources and protect environment.
It is necessary for the city to proactively prevent natural disasters and respond to climate change; strengthening national security and defense; raise the efficiency of external affairs and international integration; enhance anti-corruption, thrift practice and combating wastefulness, among others.
