Anyone showing signs of cough, fever, sore throat to be tested for COVID-19 (15:39 15/04/2020)

HNP - The Hanoi Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control released Announcement No. 339/TB-BCD on April 14, stating the conclusion of its head Nguyen Duc Chung who is also the Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee on pandemic prevention and control in the city at the 34th meeting.

Accordingly, in the time ahead, district- and commune-level People’s Committees are tasked to continue disseminating about guidelines of the Central level and the city on urgent measures against the COVID-19 pandemic in the areas.
Meanwhile, the People’s Committee of Me Linh district is requested to strictly implement the lockdown order for Ha Loi hamlet while asking task forces to tighten the surveillance on local residents so as to prevent disease transmission.
At the same time, Me Linh will strengthen the communication work to encourage those related to the coronavirus outbreak in the hamlet to proactively contact with health facilities for being screened and tested for the virus.
Under the announcement, those related to Bach Mai Hospital are required to remain in home isolation under the guidance of the health sector. 
Local authorities are assigned to continue tracking and monitoring all cases who had visited the hospital from March 10 to 28, and imposing home isolation for the patients’ caregivers and sending their samples to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for COVID-19 testing. 
The Department of Health and the CDC will work with district/township People’s Committees to verify, isolate and collect samples of people related to the 243rd patient for coronavirus testing, except for those having negative results after 14 days while informing Bac Ninh Province on the 262nd patient for its prompt measures.
The announcement underlined the need for the pharmacies to report individuals purchasing medicines for cold and common cold symptoms of cough and fever. The buyers are requested to submit health declarations immediately and be tested for the virus.
In case these pharmacies do not abide by the order ad miss any of the mentioned cases, they will be handled as stipulated by law.
According to the announcement, Chung asked the Health Department to complete medical examination and treatment process in line with prevention and control protocol for COVID-19 while ordering health facilities to strictly carry out directions of the Central level and the city on social distancing.
The city leader assigned the department to prepare full medical equipment for the COVID-19 fight, and provide training courses for all medical staff to improve their skills in conducting COVID-19 tests.
Chung asked the CDC to organize the sample collection,  conduct tests quickly, and inform the Ministry of Health on those who tested positive for the novel coronavirus for prompt report of infected cases.
Agreeing with the leader of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Chung requested anyone with signs of cough, fever, sore throat to be tested for COVID-19.
It is necessary to identify the 237th patient’s source of infection so as to take anti-pandemic measures effectively, he noted.
Chung also ordered the education and training sector, under the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), to report the end of the 2019-2020 school year to the municipal authority, and soon announce the enrollment of the first and sixth grade as well as the 10th grade entrance exam and high school graduation exam.
