Accordingly, the city has defined the goals to ensure effective implementation of the Vietnam Health Program for the period of 2021-2025 under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health. The move is expected to strengthen the role and capacity of each citizen by improving the health, stature, life expectancy and quality of life of people in Hanoi, eventually contributing to the socio-economic development of the city in particular and the country in general.
Regarding the targets by 2025, the city strives to reduce the rate of under 5 children with malnutrition to less than 10%; keep the proportion of adults with obesity under 12%; lower the proportion of adults who eat less than 35% of vegetables and fruits; reduce the average salt consumption/person/day to less than 7g; bring down the percentage of people lacking physical activity for people 18-69 years old under 22%, and children 13-17 years old at 60%.
Hanoi also aims to ensure that the percentage of people whose health conditions are managed and monitored in the community is 100%; the percentage of commune-level health stations that provide care for the elderly in the community and at home is 100%; the percentage of employees working at establishments at risk of common occupational diseases is 50%; the percentage of communes that perform basic occupational health care activities for workers in the area without labor contracts (agriculture, forestry, fishery and craft villages...) is 40%.
To accomplish the above targets, the Hanoi People's Committee proposed 11 groups of key tasks and 5 main solutions. In particular, the city would aim at enhancing the roles and responsibilities of Party committees and authorities at all levels to organize the effective implementation of the Vietnam Health Program in the city in the 2021-2025 period.
All departments, units and localities are responsible for taking the initiative in formulating plans, directing the implementation, including targets and tasks for local socio-economic development, and prioritizing the allocation of funds every year to achieve local health goals on the basis of the city’s health goals.
Along with such effort, Hanoi would develop a system of medical services, health care, rehabilitation and social support for the elderly and other social groups according to regulations, ensuring close coordination and effective connection between the Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs sector and the Health sector.
