At the meeting, Andrew Jeffries, ADB Country Director in Vietnam, expressed his satisfaction with its effective contribution to the development of the city's infrastructure as well as to the fulfillment of other development objectives of Hanoi during its 30 years of activity in Vietnam.
Currently, the ADB in Vietnam is supporting Hanoi in implementing the urban railway projects, section Nhon – Hanoi station and from here to Hoang Mai district. Within the framework of this visit, ADB introduced a new promising project for Hanoi - the facilitating city project.
According to Jeffries, the objective of the project is to optimize infrastructure, urban services and transportation to contribute to the city's development. At the same time, ADB wants city leaders to share requirements and technical solutions related to ongoing infrastructure projects.
Welcoming the working visit of the Country Director of the ADB in Vietnam, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh highly appreciated ADB's support for Vietnam in general and Hanoi during the past 30 years, in which, there are projects on essential transport infrastructure of Hanoi.
According to Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh, Hanoi is focusing on developing infrastructure, and is in need of capital resources as well as support of experts from development partners. In that context, the provision of capital and advice from partners such as ADB on the bridge system across the Red River and other infrastructure are key for Hanoi.
On this occasion, Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh suggested that ADB continue to support and coordinate with related units to strengthen cooperation work, so that all levels and sectors clearly understand the contents and purposes of the public-private partnership. Thanks to this, Hanoi can launch the project of Ring Road No. 4 running through the Capital Region and connect with a team of consultants for drafting the revised Capital Law, striving for Hanoi to participate in the bond market in the future.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee also assigned departments and branches to coordinate with functional units of ADB to implement these contents.
