More than 3,500 young people of Hanoi join army (16:10 12/02/2020)


HNP - More than 3,500 young people from 30 districts and towns throughout Ha Noi set off to join the army on February 11.  Leaders of the city attended ceremonies to bid farewell to the newly-drafted  soldiers.

• Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang attended the ceremony in Chuong My District and encouraged the young soldiers. Major General Nguyen Trong Trien, Commissar of Hanoi Capital High Command was in attendance.

This year, the district had a total of 218 youths joining the army, accounting for 100% against the assigned target. 56 of them voluntarily registered for military service.

 

On behalf of new recruits, Nguyen Van Hieu (in Ngoc Hoa Commune) said he felt proud to join the army. He also vowed to positively study more to excellently complete assigned duties in the cause of national defense.

 

Addressing the event, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang presented flowers and gifts to the young soldiers and hoped they would do their utmost to fulfill all tasks. 

 

• Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, Deputy Chairman of the People's Army General Political Department, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia attended bid farewell to 218 young men enlisted in Dong Anh District. 

 

 

• The enlistment ceremony in Dan Phuong District saw the participation of Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, and some leaders of the city’s entities. 

 

 

135 young people of the district have been conscripted this year. 32 of them voluntarily registered for military service. 

 

• On the occasion, 154 young men in Hoai Duc District,  46 ones in Tay Ho, 104 ones in Hoang Mai, 145 ones in Phu Xuyen, 57 ones in Hoan Kiem, 63 ones in Ba Dinh, 102 ones in Ha Dong, 138 ones in Thach That, 144 ones in Thanh Oai, 60 ones in North Tu Liem, 56 ones in South Tu Liem, 135 ones in Quoc Oai, 165 ones in Thuong Tin, 75 ones in Son Tay, and 162 ones in Gia Lam also set off to join the army.

 

 

According to the amended Law on Military Duty taking effect in 2016,  there would be only one conscription  in February or March  each year, instead of two; and an the eligibility age for military service is increased  to 27.

 

Two-year military service is compulsory for young men while women can volunteer.
