The event saw the attendance of Nguyen Quoc Phong, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Federation; Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee; and Nguyen Ngoc Viet, Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union, Chairman of the Municipal Youth Federation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union Nguyen Ngoc Viet said that in carrying out President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching, over the past 50 years, young people nationwide have always been pioneers in military, economic, political, and cultural movements.
Furthermore, all-level Youth Unions have launched many campaigns attracting a large number of members, confirming the youth’s role in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Notably, the Youth Volunteer Campaign launched by the Hanoi Youth Union in January, 1999 has drawn the active participation of young people in the city.
During the past 20 years, the young volunteers have left fine imprints in mind of Vietnamese people and international friends.
On the occasion, 129 Youth Union leaders were commended. They are outstanding Youth Union cadres in studying, social works, and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and style.
Also at the ceremony, an exhibition titled “20 years of Youth Volunteer Campaign” was opened.
More than 200 photos displayed at the exhibition feature volunteer activities of Youth Union members in the Red River Delta during the last 20 years (1999-2019).
