The event saw the attendance of Tran Thanh Hai, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Nguyen Lan Huong, Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education, Chairwoman of the Municipal Fatherland Front Committee; Le Hong Son, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee; Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Chairwoman of the Municipal Confederation of Labor.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Chairwoman of the Municipal Confederation of Labor Nguyen Thi Tuyen said that the Month of Workers 2019 aims to take care of workers’ material and spiritual life; increase the leadership of all-level Party Committees as well as responsibility of authorities, and encourage the participation of all levels, sectors and enterprises in developing strong workers and employees to meet the requirement of the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country and the capital city.
To make the month more effective and practical, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Tuyen requested all-level Trade Unions to work out following major tasks: strengthening the communication on International Labor Day (May 1), as well as the Party’s guidelines, resolutions and the laws regarding workers; caring for workers’ legitimate rights and interests; inspecting and monitoring enterprises’ enforcement of labor code and policies for employees, especially social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance.
She also underlined the need for Trade Unions to organize meetings between leaders and workers, employers - Trade Unions and employees according to Decree No. 149/ND-CP of the Government in an effort to promptly address workers’ legitimate recommendations and build harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations in businesses.
Among tasks of Trade Unions include organizing a series of activities for workers; effectively implementing welfare programs for union members and creating optimal conditions for them to purchase goods or use services at at a steeply discounted price; and bringing into full play workers’ role in the general development of businesses and the country.

Addressing the event, Yamazaki Takayuki, General Director of SWCC SHOWA Vietnam Limited Company appreciated the role of Trade Unions as a bridge between workers and enterprises in building harmonious and stable labor relations, contributing to sustainable development of businesses.
He also expressed his sincere gratitude to workers and employees, and committed to strictly executing Vietnamese law provisions and further caring for workers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Tran Thanh Hai asked all-level Trade Unions to launch emulation movements; encourage workers improve labor productivity and develop trademark, regularly improving their living standards; focus on protecting members’ rights; work with employers to complete production process and guarantee labor safety.
Doctors provide free healthcare services to workers.
At the launching ceremony, the Hanoi Confederation of Labor presented gifts to 90 workers with the cost of VND45 million.
Notably, the Municipal Confederation of Labor organized medical check-ups and provided free medicine for workers at industrial parks in the city.
