The event saw the attendance of Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Co-coordinating Minister for National Security of Singapore; Nguyen Duc Chung, member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee; Catherine Wong Siow Ping, Singaporean Ambassador to Viet Nam; Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front’s Ha Noi Chapter, and Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization.
According to Singaporean Ambassador to Viet Nam Catherine Wong Siow Ping, the festival is a chance to intensify cultural exchanges as well as cooperation between Viet Nam and Singapore.
“Through the event, we hope to bring Singapore closer to the people of Hanoi and help Vietnamese friends get the unique experiences found only from Singapore”, the diplomat stressed.
During the two-day festival (March 23-24), local residents and international visitors will to learn more about the unique culture and get the unique experiences in Singapore.
They will also enjoy art performances, fashion shows and culinary specialties.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that Singapore is always a traditional partner of Vietnam since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations on August 1, 1973. In recent years, the relations between the two countries in general and between Ha Noi and Singapore in particular have developed fruitfully. The two sides have also enhanced the cooperation in fields of trade, investment, tourism, environment and smart city.
According to the Chairman, Singapore is currently the second largest country in registered investment worth over US$6 billion and 349 projects in Hanoi. Especially, last year, the total number of visitors from Singapore to Hanoi was more than 80,000, making up the 12th largest foreign tourists’ source market to the capital city, accounting for 28% of the total Singaporean guests coming to Viet Nam.
He also expressed his hope that Singaporean will enjoy great experiences in Viet Nam in general and Ha Noi in particular.
The city leader affirmed that Ha Noi will continue further cooperating with the Singaporean Embassy and the Singapore Tourism Board in organizing the Singapore Festival as an annual event and a Singapore destination in the heart of Ha Noi.
