• The Party Committee – the People’s Council – the People’s Committee – the Fatherland Front Committee of Me Linh District solemnly organized a ceremony to mark the 1979th anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung (Trung sisters) Uprising as well as open the Hai Ba Trung Temple Fesival 2019 at the Hai Ba Trung Temple, a special national relic site.
The event saw the attendance of member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh; former PCC member, former Vice President and Chairwoman of the Viet Nam Association for Study Promotion Nguyen Thi Doan; Deputy Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Dao Duc Toan; and Vice Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha; among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the district Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee, Doan Van Trong recalled the indomitable spirit of the two Trung sisters in the history of national construction and defence.
He said that promoting the tradition, the local Party Organization, authority and people would make more effort to fulfill all targets of socio-economic development, maintain security and national defence, carry out policies for revolutionary devotees, ensure social welfare, strengthen emulation movements in all fields, and effectively implement the year of improving efficiency and effectiveness of the political system.
After the ceremony, leaders of the Party and the State along with delegates offered incense at the Hai Ba Trung Temple, and visited an exhibition featuring contributions by generations of Vietnamese women to national development.
The festival will last until the 8th day in the first lunar month.
Performing a ritual to open Giong Temple Festival.
• The 2019 Giong Temple Festival officially kicked off at the Soc temple in Soc Son District. The festival includes several symbolic activities, such as Saint Statue bathing, a procession, an incense offering, and elephant and horse transformation.
Soc Temple is the place for worshiping Saint Giong - one of the four immortals of Viet Nam. Legend has it that after defeating foreign invaders to the foot of Ve Linh mountain, expelling the last enemy out of the country, Saint Giong left his iron armor and rode his iron horse up to the sky. People celebrate traditional festival annually to commemorate and honor the scared feat of the legendary hero Saint Giong.
Built over 1,000 years ago, Soc temple historical relic complex remains many valuable historical and cultural value, contributing to the cause of Viet Nam cultural preservation and promotion, recognized by the State as cultural heritage of national level on December 31st, 2014.
Co Loa Temple Festival officially kicks off .
• Co Loa Temple Festival also opened at the An Duong Vuong Temple in Co Loa Commune, Dong Anh District. This is a chance to commemorate King An Duong Vuong – the founder of Au Lac State.
According to Le Trung Kien, Chairman of the district People’s Committee, the district will carry out specific missions to conserve the Co Loa relic site, such as taking solutions to build Dong Anh into an urban district; conserving and promoting precious rites so as to improve its value in the new era.
The festival will last until the 16th day of the first lunar month.
