The event was attended by Pham The Duyet, former Politburo member and former Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee; Pham Quang Nghi, former Politburo member and former Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee; Hoang Van Nghien, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and former Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee; Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee; Ho Quang Loi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists Association; Phung Thi Hong Ha, Vice Chairwoman of the Municipal People’s Council; and outstanding journalists representing more than 20 Journalists Associations in the northern region.
Serving as the pioneer force in the ideological front
As a political – social – occupational organization of journalists established on December 16th, 1988, currently, the Ha Noi Journalist Association has had 18 federations of Associations, Associations with over 1,000 members.

Over the past years, the Municipal Journalists Association has brought into full play the role and unity to effectively –carry out the popularization of political missions of the Party, State and the city.
Notably, the Association has focus on popularizing the city’s achievements in the building of the Party and political system, the socio-economic development, infrastructure construction, new style rural area construction, assurance of national defence and securities as well as outcomes of ten years of implementing Resolution No. 15 of the National Assembly (tenure 12) on expanding Ha Noi’s administrative boundary and great socio-political events in the area.
Moreover, the Association has enhanced communication to encourage officials, Party members and local people to carry out policies and resolutions of the Party and State, the Municipal Party Committee, namely, Directive No. 05 of the Politburo on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle; Directive 37 of the Secretariat on continuing to improve the role and quality of the Viet Nam Journalists Association in the new situation; and the city’s development strategies.
Over the past 30 years, the Association has paid attention to training officials, correspondents of press agencies. Particularly, the Association organized 6 courses with more than 400 participants.
With the gained achievements, the Ha Noi Journalists Association received Third-Class Independence Order, First-Class Labour Order, certificates of merits and emulation flags. The Government, the Ha Noi People’s Committee, the Viet Nam Journalist Association and the Central’s ministries, sectors also presented certificates of merit to journalists.
Continuing popularization of building a transparent and strong Party and political system
On behalf of Ha Noi leaders, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang lauded achievements and contributions of the Ha Noi Journalists Association to the city over the past 30 years.
To promote the Association’s role and missions in the coming time, Permanent Deputy Secretary Ngo Thi Thanh Hang expected the Association to join effort with press agencies to meet the requirement of modern news; well implement political missions.

According to the Permanent Deputy Secretary, the Association needs to positively encourage people to give comments on building the Party, authorities and social feedback in line with Decisions No. 217, 218, contributing to fighting corruption and wastefulness and building a transparent, strong Party organization and political system.
