The event saw attendance of Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue; member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh; PCC’s member, Deputy Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee and Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung; Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Doan Toan, among others.
Online Friday is an annual online shopping event organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade since 2014. This year’s event draws the participation of over 3,000 websites, e-commerce businesses and big brand names, namely, Samsung, Oppo, LG, Jysk, Jetstar, Vinamilk, Sunhouse, Vinaphone, Viet Nam post, etc.
Besides, major online retailers including Lazada, Shopee, Tiki, Sendo… also offer various attractive promotion activities to consumers.
At opening ceremony
The Week for Digital Experience and E-Commerce takes place from November 30th to December 12th, 2018 in pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake. The closing ceremony will be held on December 7th.
During the week, a wide range of activities will be organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ha Noi People’s Committee. It is a chance for consumers to interact, experience and meet the most prestigious brands in the field of e-commerce in Viet Nam.

Addressing at the opening ceremony, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh affirmed that Online Friday has been held for the fifth consecutive year.
It is an important event for the business community to develop solutions towards consumers and build trust in online trade transactions in the context of increasing digital trends, he added.
Minister Tran Tuan Anh emphasized that the program has promoted the breakthrough development of e-commerce and digital economy in Viet Nam, contributing to developing the economy in line with Government's orientation on bringing into full play the technological advantages and catching up with the opportunity from the fourth industrial revolution which is taking place all over the world.
He said that e-commerce and digital economy will become important tools for the Vietnamese economy to catch up with the development of the world’s economy so that Vietnamese consumers can access and enjoy the most favorable conditions in international integration.
VietNam Post’s stand attracts many consumers.
According to a report by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2014, total revenue from the program reached over VND 160 billion. In 2017, that figure soared to VND 1,223 billion with 1.3 million orders in the 24-hour program.
In addition to Online Friday, Ha Noi Promotion Fair 2018 opened at the Times City Square, 458 Minh Khai Street, Hai Ba Trung district.
This is a large-scale promotion activity with more than 100 booths from many reputable businesses operating in fields of fashion, cosmetics, household appliances, and consumption goods, including Aristino, Vinmart, Alfresco, Sony, Blue Exchange, GenViet, May 10, and others.
Visitors were offered huge discounts of 30% up to 100% off on thousands of products and various types of gifts.
