Taking place around Ly Thai To Statue, the 5th German Festival aims to enhance cultural exchanges between Viet Nam and Germany as well as seek further cooperation opportunities between the two countries in the future.
The event also contributes to promoting the image of Germany, as a strategic partner of Viet Nam by introducing activities of Germany's political and cultural organizations and companies operating in Viet Nam as well as their Vietnamese partners.
Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee affirmed that during 43 years of establishing diplomatic ties between Viet Nam and Germany, the relations have been developed positively, effectively and comprehensively.
Especially, in October 2011, the two Prime Ministers signed a joint statement on the establishment of the Viet Nam - Germany Strategic Partnership, marks a new development in the cooperation between the two countries.

According to the city leader, Germany is one of the most important partners of Ha Noi with 68 investment projects in multi fields. Two-way trade reached about US$ 900 million.
He affirmed that products of German culture have become friendly with the people of Ha Noi in particular and Viet Nam in general.
He also believed that the relations of the two sides will develop fruitfully in future while expressing his thanks to Ambassador Christian Berger and his wife, the Goethe-Institute, German artists and firms, relevant units for their contributions to the success of the 2018 German Festival.
Ambassador Christian Berger stressed that the festival will contribute to elevating the Viet Nam – Germany relations to a new height.
International friends and Hanoians have a chance to enjoy melodies and images featuring German traditional culture. The Organizing Board hoped local residents and visitors to understand more about Germany through a wide range of cultural exchange activities in the heart of Ha Noi.
The two-day festival will entertain locals and expats with a wide range of activities, including jazz performances and movies about Germany’s tourism and culture, pop rock performance by the band Isolation Berlin, a fashion show by the Van Laack Company, among others.
The festival will last until November 3rd.
