The event saw the attendance of Hoang Vinh Bao, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications; Ngo Van Quy, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee.
Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said that the annual book festival is held at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel – A World Heritage Site to celebrate the Capital’s Liberation Day.
The event is seen as a cultural space to serve local people as well as a chance to introduce publications of various domestic and international publishing houses, he added.
With the theme “Book and Digital Technology”, this year’s book festival takes place from October 3rd to 7th.

Vice Chairman Ngo Van Quy emphasized that at the festival, there is an exhibition space showcasing digital reading devices, audio books, and techniques combining print books and applications on smart devices, etc.
Additionally, domestic and international businesses will also organize many seminars and presentations themed “The Fourth Industrial Revolution” and “Asean Reading Culture” so as to raise the reading culture for the community.
Besides, exchanges on copyright policy will be held with the participation of 25 publishers and representative offices of foreign publishers from Germany, France, USA, Korea, Japan and some ASEAN countries.
Other activities will be organized such as talk shows, exchanges between authors and readers, etc.
The 5th Ha Noi Book Festival 2018 gathers 120 booths from leading publishers and book companies.
