The ceremony saw the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Chairman of the Ha Noi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan, Chairman of the National Assembly Commission of Science, Technology and Environment Phan Xuan Dung.
The construction of the 47.2ha depot will be divided into two stages. The first stage, covering 19.2ha, costs over VND782 billion. It is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2017, capable of handling 380,000 TEUS per year.
The second stage, covering 28ha, worth over VND1,782 billion. The ICD is estimated to receive a double increase in cargo with 760,000 TEUs per year after the second phase of the project which is finished in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The depot will provide hi-tech logistics, support, storage, and distribution services for economic and industrial zones in the east of Ha Noi and adjacent provinces. It will create opportunities to well implement administrative reforms and modernization of customs work in the capital city; support enterprises to import and export goods and create conditions for the development of industrial parks in capital region.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman Chung thanked to the attention and assistance of the Gorverment, Minitries of Transport, Construction. He also highly apreciated the efforts of departments, sectors and branches; People’s Committee of Gia Lam District; investors to help project start as planned.
He asked the investors, constructors to ensure quality, schedule and safety of construction works.
