Construction of the 614,13 metre-long tunnel at Trung Hoa interchange began on January 18, 2015 and completed after 11 months of construction, seven months ahead of schedule. The tunnel totally cost VND1,087 billion. It has three lanes for motor vehicles, facilitating transportation from urban area to Thang Long boulevard and vice versa.

Construction of the 980 metre-long tunnel at Thanh Xuan interchange began on June 28, 2014. It has an investment capital of VND551 billion (US$24.2 million).
Each tunnel has two lanes for motor vehicles with a designed speed of 60km/h.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said the opening of these two tunnels would help ease traffic conflicts on routes leading to the city centre and the third ring road, promote economic development.
Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the efforts by the Ministry of Transport and contractors to complete these key infrastructure projects ahead of schedule.
