Hanoi leader receives Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (17:10 23/11/2022)


HNP - On November 22, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Le Hong Son hosted a reception for the Secretary General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) Marcin Czepelak, who is on a working trip in Vietnam.  



At the meeting, PCA Secretary General Marcin Czepelak highly appreciated the development of Hanoi, saying that this visit is a valuable opportunity to learn about the culture and life of the people in the capital.

Briefing the guest on the activities of the PCA Representative Office in Hanoi in the coming time, Secretary General Marcin Czepelak wished that the Office and the Capital would strengthen cooperation.  At the same time, he expressed his belief that the Hanoi government would pay attention and support the activities of the office.

According to Marcin Czepelak,  the International Court of Arbitration office in Hanoi  will be empowered by the PCA to handle cases right in Vietnam, which means that many foreigners will come to Vietnam and Hanoi, thus promoting the capital and country among the international community. On that basis, the Secretary General of PCA affirmed that he would accompany Hanoi in building beautiful and positive image of the city in the eyes of international friends.

Concurring with what was shared by the PCA Secretary General, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Hong Son stressed that the establishment of a representative office of the PCA in Hanoi can be considered a new and important step for the Vietnamese judicial sector. At the same time, it is an affirmation of the development of the Vietnamese judicial system. Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Hong Son also said that this move will create confidence for foreign investors, especially large corporations, when considering investment in Vietnam.

Emphasizing that the activities of the PCA Representative Office will not only play an important role for the PCA but also for Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Hong Son expected that PCA's presence in the capital will help address the legal weaknesses that Vietnamese businesses are facing when operating in the international environment, especially in some aspects such as trademark disputes.

Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Hong Son affirmed that Hanoi will create the best conditions for the PCA Representative Office, especially in the initial stage of operation, which often generates many difficulties; at the same time, directing relevant departments, branches and agencies of Hanoi to actively support the PCA Representative Office.

PCA Secretary General Marcin Czepelak emphasized that the presence of a representative office in the city is  mutually beneficial for both sides. PCA Secretary General believes that this will make an important contribution to the overall development of the Capital in the coming time

At the meeting, the two sides also spent time discussing a number of issues of mutual concern.
