HNP - On October 6, Hanoi Promotion Center (HPA) cooperated with the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency (IDEA), the Hanoi Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Association (HANOISME) to hold the Conference "Improving production capacity and promoting products through cross-border e-commerce".

This is the first activity within the framework of the program "Promoting commercial development skills for businesses in the digital economy" co-ordinated by the HPA and other agencies.

Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Thi Mai Anh, Deputy Director of the HPA said: Over the past time, the Covid-19 pandemic has had a great impact on activities of trade, investment and service industries of countries around the world, including Vietnam. However, in that difficult context, many businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, have made great efforts and are constantly looking for solutions and applying information technology to transform, promote online business methods during the pandemic.

The number of successful businesses is increasing, especially those achieving high online sales and the majority of businesses are already present on most domestic and foreign e-commerce platforms. Cross-border e-commerce today has become a very effective and sustainable way to sell goods or services to international customers through online forms: websites, online stores or e-commerce platforms.

According to Mai Anh, participating in an international e-commerce distribution channel is an opportunity for businesses to access export markets and reach a larger number of consumers participating in shopping online effectively.

However, cross-border e-commerce is still a new operation method for businesses that requires good knowledge and skills to join this distribution channel such as: knowledge on payment, logistics, other regulations and laws related to goods standards, delivery methods, payment to avoid risks when transporting to other countries, among others.

Therefore, the conference is a practical activity to help businesses improve their export capacity and promote products through cross-border e-commerce.

Mac Quoc Anh, Vice President and General Secretary of the HANOISME also said that the industrial revolution 4.0 has become the driving force for e-commerce in the world as well as in Vietnam, especially cross-border e-commerce activities.

He noted cross-border e-commerce is rapidly becoming a core element of the global economy and an inevitable trend that no country can stand aside. In addition, cross-border e-commerce not only creates opportunities for businesses to increase sales, but also seek a flexible business model, reduce costs, and optimize resources to access the global supply chains.

In Vietnam, for exporters, cross-border e-commerce is still quite new with many complicated legal procedures related to the exporting, importing countries and other countries.

The conference focused on providing businesses with synchronous solutions to develop cross-border e-commerce, improve export capacity and promote products.

The conference draw the participation of experts from e-commerce platforms: Amazon, Shopee as well as Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam, DP Express and Sunhouse Group.
