According to the multidimensional poverty assessment, in the period of 2022-2025, Hanoi currently has 3,612 poor households (accounting for 0.16%) and 30,176 near-poor households (accounting for 1.38%), mainly in rural areas. Among the poor and near-poor households, there are currently more than 3,000 households with housing difficulties that need support for new construction and repair, along with the need to support means, tools for labor, production, create jobs to get out of poverty. Therefore, along with the supporting policies of the city, it is necessary to gather support from agencies, organizations, businesses and benefactors.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung expressed that, over the past time, the Fund "For the Poor", the Fund "For Vietnam's Seas and Islands" have received active support from many business organizations. The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee believes that in the coming time, Hanoi will continue to receive the companionship and cooperation of businesses and entrepreneurs in the implementation of sustainable poverty reduction and welfare policies.
In particular, on October 11th, Hanoi will organize the launching ceremony of the month "For the poor" and social security in 2022. On this occasion, the City People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi calls for agencies, organizations, units, businesses and all classes of people in the capital promote the good tradition of solidarity and the spirit of "mutual solidarity and mutual love" of the nation, actively joining hands to help the poor and supporting the City "For the Poor" Fund in 2022. "All donations will be announced at the live broadcast television program "- Dung emphasized.
Taking note of the opinions shared by businesses, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that Hanoi will implement the "For the Poor" Fund's activities effectively as committed, to bring the best social security, supporting the poor and disadvantaged people the opportunity to rise up, so that "no one is left behind".
At the conference, representatives of businesses expressed their pleasure that the support of businesses has been used effectively, contributing to reducing poor households in the city. At the same time, businesses also pledged to continue to accompany and join hands with the city in supporting the "For the Poor" Fund, contributing to ensuring social security, building a civilized and modern capital.
Concluding the conference, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi Nguyen Lan Huong acknowledged and expressed her gratitude to the businesses that have accompanied the city in social security work. "We share the difficulties businesses have faced in the past time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Inspite of difficulties, the businesses are still willing to share and effectively accompany the city in efforts for poverty reduction," - Chairwoman of the City Fatherland Front Committee noted.
Huong said the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi is ready to receive support from businesses in many different forms, to join hands to support the poor and disadvantaged people to rise up in life.
* In 2021, the total resources of Hanoi for specific policies to support poverty reduction and social security hit over VND10.6 trillion. The Vietnam Fatherland Fronts at all levels of the city's pandemic prevention and control fund and vaccine fund have received donations for the from agencies, units, organizations, businesses and benefactors with a total budget of more than VND1.8 trillion. Hanoi has donated VND548 billion to the Central Vaccine Fund; received over VND14 billion to buy computers for poor children and at the same time, donated more than 10,000 online learning devices to disadvantaged students, helping them to study well during the pandemic. With the synchronous implementation of policies, programs and solutions to support poverty reduction, by the end of 2021, Hanoi has reduced 3,057 poor households, reaching 262% of the plan, bringing the poverty rate down to 0.04 %, and the number of localities without poor households to 19/30 districts.
