Hanoi stays cautious about Covid-19 situation (09:49 24/09/2022)


HNP - On September 23, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung chaired an online briefing with localities on disease prevention and control in the capital.  



Briefing the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health Vu Cao Cuong said that up to now, Hanoi has recorded 1,629,076 cases, of which 292  are imported. Accordingly,  Omicron is still the dominant strain, while the BA.5 is on the upward trend. In the past 7 days (from September 15 to 21, 2022) there were 2,539 cases confirmed, no deaths were recorded; on average  363 cases/day, the number of cases decreased by 7.5% compared to the previous week. As of September 21, 2022, the city has received and distributed 17,982,623 doses of vaccine, of which 17,971,270 doses have been used (99.9%).

Regarding the situation of Dengue hemorrhagic fever, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health Vu Cao Cuong said, cumulatively in 2022 there are 3,800 cases, 5 deaths; the number of cases increased 1.8 times compared to the average number of cases in 5 years. Patients are detected in all 30 districts and towns.

In recent weeks, the number of cases is showing signs of increasing rapidly, at nearly 800 cases/week.

At the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Tran Luu Hoa said that in the 2022-2023 school year, the Department of Education and Training has directed all units to roll out vaccination work for officials, teachers, employees and students under the direction of the City. In the coming time, the Department of Education and Training will continue to coordinate with the Department of Health to direct educational institutions to immunize children from 5   to under 18 years old in the city according to the plan.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung said that, although the pandemic situation in the area is still under control, in recent days, the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the dengue fever epidemic have seen complicated developments. Therefore, localities and units must thoroughly grasp the City's guiding spirit at documents and meetings and be determined not to let disease occur in the area.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung emphasized that in the coming time, the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic will continue to be an important task. The localities and the Steering Committees for pandemic prevention and control need to focus on their responsibilities and administrative discipline in protecting the public against any risks of diseases.

Along with that, Dung called for the city to continue to prioritize and focus on vaccination against Covid-19, especially the elderly with underlying diseases and children from 5 to under 12 years old,; ready to vaccinate children from 6 months to under 5 years old under the guidance of the Ministry of Health.

Emphasizing that the role of schools is very important for the vaccination results, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee asked the Education and Training Department and the District People's Committees to continue communicating in various ways and directing schools to convince parents and students to agree to have their children vaccinated against Covid-19.
