At the conference, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health Vu Cao Cuong said that the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Hanoi is now under control. As of August 10, Hanoi has recorded 1,615,049 cases of Covid-19 and 112 days without confirming deaths from Covid-19 (since April 19, 2022); gene sequencing has been performed on 318 test samples, whose results are still mainly BA.2 strains, but sub-variants of Omicron BA.4, BA.5 have appeared. Currently, there are 3,374 cases being monitored, of which 118 are at the hospital, the rest are treated at home.
Cuong informed that the epidemic of dengue fever, foot and mouth disease and other endemic diseases are under control, the number of cases increased slightly compared to the same period in 2021. Specifically, up to now, the city has recorded 1,183 cases of foot and mouth disease, an increase of 196 cases compared to the same period in 2021; 608 cases of dengue fever recorded , an increase of 359 casescompared to the same period in 2021 and no death has been reported. No cases of monkeypox and acute hepatitis of unknown etiology have been reported in children so far.
Regarding Covid-19 vaccination, as of August 10, the city has received and distributed 17,501,993 doses of vaccine, of which 17,151,232 doses have been used and the Department continued to administer injections as directed by the Government and Ministry of Health.
In the past time, the city has drastically directed the vaccination campaign, but the progress is still slow due to the low response of the people for a number of reasons such as: the pandemic has been well controlled, so people have now underestimated the danger of the Covid-19 pandemic; the experience of getting sick after being vaccinated against the 3rd dose makes them fear of getting the second booster shot. Therefore, the city continues to accelerate the vaccination for children from 5 to under 12 years old to ensure completion in August 2022, complete the 3rd and 4th injections for people over 18 and speed up the 3rd injection for people aged between 12 and 18 according to the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
Deputy Director of the Department of Health Cuong emphasized the importance of the 3rd and 4th injections in preventing Covid-19 infection. The Department of Health will continue to train localities and units to ensure the safety of Covid-19 vaccination at injection sites; ready to mobilize support units for localities if there are not enough human resources for vaccination.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung highly appreciated the involvement of localities over the past time, so the Covid-19 pandemic situation has been well controlled. On the basis of facts and reports of localities, Dung said that the Covid-19 pandemic is on the rise with new strains being imported into our country. However, the vaccination progress against Covid-19 for people, especially those aged 5 to 12, has not been as expected.
Emphasizing the importance of vaccination against Covid-19 in the current context, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee said that on August 9, City People's Committee Chairman Tran Sy Thanh signed and promulgated Official Dispatch No. /CD-UBND on strengthening the vaccination against Covid-19 pandemic. Dung asked localities and units to actively develop specific and detailed plans to drastically implement this work. "Completing the Covid-19 vaccination as well as ensuring safety for pandemic prevention and control is an important task today associated with the responsibility that localities must focus on implementing, " Dung emphasized.
