Ministry of Health urges greater efforts in ensuring election safety amid Covid-19 (22:34 17/05/2021)
The document noted as the Covid-19 situation remains complicated, the risk of Covid-19 infection in the locality remains high.
To ensure safety of for the general elections of the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Council for the 2021-2026 period, the Ministry of Health requested people’s committees of provinces/cities under administration of the central government and related units to boost efforts against the pandemic before and during the election period.
As such, the Department of Health in provinces/cities are urged to strictly comply with plan No.538/KH-BYT dated April 22, 2021 of the Ministry of Health on medical safety of the general elections.
The document also suggested each locality should frequently update information on the Covid-19 situation and prepare solutions accordingly.
At provinces/cities having Covid-19 cases, each constituency should establish a quarantine zone for Covid-19 patients.
For voters being quarantined at home, hotel, or hospital, the ballot boxes should be sterilized before and after the completion of the election.
Members of the election committee, election supervision committee, supporting staffs should wear protective gear during the election process.
All polling stations should ensure full safety for people coming to vote, including instruction for voters to comply with 5K measures at public places.
