Former Secretaries of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham The Duyet and Pham Quang Nghi, along with retired leaders of the city participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, retired leaders expressed their delights at successes of Hanoi in 2020, saying this is thanks to strong leadership of the central government and local authorities.
Former leaders expected that Hanoi would continue to achieve significant achievements and become a modern, civilized and prosperous city.
Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue briefed former leaders on highlights of Hanoi in the past year, adding the city successfully held the city’s 17th Party congress.
Right after the conclusion of the city’s Party congress, the municipal Party Committee instructed the draft of 10 programs to realize the resolutions of the Party congress, he said.
So far, the city has effectively contained the Covid-19 pandemic and minimized its impact to the community, at the same time delivering a positive economic growth of 3.98%, 1.4 times higher than the national average; and state budget of VND285 trillion, 2% higher than the estimate and 6% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, Hanoi has waived, delayed and restructured debt payment for outstanding loans of VND26 trillion, accounting for 30% of the total nationwide and allocated VND600 billion for people affected by the pandemic.
According to Hue, Hanoi’s achievements in socio-economic development come from the city’s continuous efforts after 30 years of reform, 10 years of implementing the resolution No.11 of the Politburo on the development of Hanoi; 10 years of implementing the Law on Capital City; and 12 years of expanding the administrative boundary of Hanoi.
In 2021, Hanoi targets an economic growth of 7.5%, while putting more efforts in realizing the pilot urban administration model, the zoning plan for Red river, among others.
