Hanoi to enhance state management in field of communication and information in new normal (16:50 20/01/2021)
Right in the first days of 2020, the municipal Department of Information and Communications was actively working on targets set by the city’s leaders, including the implementation of Hanoi’s IT plan for 2020; proposed a IT application plan in state agencies and promoting digital government development, as well as ensuring information safety in Hanoi in 2021; issuing digital transformation plan for Hanoi until 2025, with vision to 2030, among others.
Vice Minister of Information and Communications Pham Anh Tuan highlighted the achievements of the Department in 2020, saying these efforts have contributed a big part to the development of the information and communications sector nationwide.
In 2021 and subsequent years, Tuan said the Ministry of Information and Communications identified six priority fields to focus on, expecting the Department to closely follow the instruction No.01/CT-BTTT dated January 11, 2021 of the Ministry on the orientation for the development of the information and communication sector in 2021.
Right in the beginning of the year, the Department would be responsible for setting up specific action plan to realize cooperation agreement between Hanoi and the Ministry of Information and Communications.
In terms of IT, Tuan expected more support for IT center and the development of digital firms and startups, creating favorable conditions for the development of digital economy.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung said achievements of the Department in 2020 has contributed to the city’s socio-economic development.
Dung requested the Department to set up development targets that are in line with Hanoi’s five-year socio-economic development plans.
This would include a project to boost digital transformation in Hanoi, along with the set up of a smart city and IT application among state agencies.
Hanoi should continue to expand the coverage of 4G network and soon put the 5G network into commercial operation in the city, in turn serving the development process of digital government, economy and society.
