Hanoi leaders meet Thang Long Club members (22:11 12/01/2021)


HNP - Hanoi’s Party Committee, People's Council and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee held a meeting with representatives of Thang Long Club on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year 2021.

The event was co-chaired by Vuong Dinh Hue, Politburo member, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Head of the city’s delegation of National Assembly deputies; Chu Ngoc Anh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee; Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee; and Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s council.
 
In attendance were Head of the municipal Party Committee’s Education and Communication Commission Bui Huyen Mai; Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha; Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hong Son; and Director of the Department of Public Security Nguyen Hai Trung. 
 
At the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of Thang Long Club Duong Ngoc Son gave a report on the club's activities. Accordingly, in2020, despite the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic, Thang Long Club still maintained regular activities with over 100 meetings featuring discussions about political, economic and social issues of the capital and the country.
 
The club members have given their opinions on the drafting of documents for the XIII Central Party Congress and the XVII Hanoi Party Congress.
 
Expressing her delight at the city’s growth last year, Bui Thi Hien, head of the Club’s Department of Health, said that Hanoi has excellently fulfilled its tasks, including containing the spread of COVID-19, boosting socio-economic development, and maintaining political security. 
 
She hailed the effort by the municipal administration in successfully holding the XVII Hanoi Party Congress, as well as settling complicated violations. 
 
She hoped the municipal authorities would focus on reducing traffic congestion, and better managing urban development. 
 
Meanwhile, Chu Duc Kinh, former director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum, expressed his great appreciation for the city’s three outstanding results in economic growth, budget collection revenue and improvement of per capita income. 
 
Addressing the event, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue acknowledged and highly appreciated the enthusiastic contributions and sense of responsibility of the Thang Long Club members to the cause of capital construction.
 
 He informed about the outstanding achievements that the city had gained in 2020.
 
According to Hue, Hanoi had successfully organized the 17th Party Congress, and effectively implemented the dual task of combating the COVID-19 pandemic as well as boosting socio-economic development.
 
Hanoi’s GRDP grew 3.98% in 2020, 1.5 times higher than the national average; industry and construction increased by nearly 7%; agriculture expanded by 4.2%; city's budget revenue reached VND285,000 billion (US$12 billion), exceeding estimation 2.2% and higher than the year of 2019.
 
Special attention has paid to infrastructure development. Many major works have been completed and put into operation, contributing to reducing traffic jams. 
 
Hue wished the Thang Long Club members to make greater contributions to building Hanoi into a prosperous, civilized, and modern capital city.
