The event was co-chaired by member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh; Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen; Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan; Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong; and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s municipal Committee Nguyen Lan Huong.
At the meeting, heads of news agencies congratulated Hanoi administration on its comprehensive achievements in 2020, while highly speaking of its effective coordination with the media outlets.
Do Phu Tho, deputy editor-in-chief of the Quan Doi Nhan Dan (People's Army) Newspaper, highlighted the timely providing of information by the city’s authorities which would help the media outlets to be active in covering news amid social network boom.
Phung Cong Suong, deputy editor-in-chief of the Tien phong Newspaper, expressed his great appreciation for the city’s successful response to the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as impressive results in socio-economic development.
He hoped that Hanoi would make positive changes in reducing traffic congestion and settling environmental pollution this year.
Meanwhile, Ho Quang Loi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, said Hanoi has successfully realized the dual task of containing the spread of coronavirus and boosting socio-economic development.
He praised the city’s effort in ensuring political security and social safety, and promoting cultural development, while wishing better cooperation between the press and the local administration in the time to come.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue offered his congratulations to news agencies, and hailed their contributions to the city’s achievements in 2020.
He informed the municipal Party Committee has elaborated Program No.6 on cultural development, improving the qualifications of human resources and building elegant and civilized manner of Hanoians for the tenure of 2021-2025, with the goal of turning culture and human resources as endogenous strength and great spiritual driving force for the capital’s sustainable development.
The operation of more than 600 media outlets in Hanoi has helped the city’s leaders get information and people’s voices in policy making, he added.
He asked relevant agencies to improve the quality of information provided to the press on the local government’s portal.
The municipal People’s Committee is told to organize monthly press briefing to provide information for media outlets in an open and transparent manner.
“The city maintains its spirit of being open and transparent to the press, and create favorable conditions for the operation of media outlets’”, the Secretary stressed.
